Alessia

Alessia is a handmade shabby chic hat with feathers in dusty pinks and purples. This pretty women’s accessory is decorated with handmade flowers using silk sari ribbons, fresh water pearls, beads, rhinestones and hand dyed lace. I dyed the lace, velvet ribbon and the silk dupion fabric and then chose the remaining embellishments and ribbons to match. Alessia is part of a set of hat and wrist cuff which can be purchased as two separate items. Worn together they make a really beautiful adornment for perhaps a wedding, even a maid of honour or bridesmaid, for a garden party, ball or special event.

I love to work with silk and hand paint my own scarves. I use the same techniques to hand dye lace and ribbons to match the silk ribbons in my Precious Moments collection. These are stand-alone elegant and feminine women’s accessories and are one of a kind. They will add something unique to a simple outfit, dress up a pair of jeans or turn some heads at an event. However you choose to wear it, you can be sure you have a gorgeous accessory and that no one will have one the same.

Totally unique, one of a kind pieces! This cuff is part of my Precious Moments Collection. These wearable art pieces are made in part with recycled sari silk ribbons which gave me the idea for the collection name. Each ribbon was once part of sari that was made perhaps for a wedding or special occasion, perhaps everyday wear. Each sari holds memories, stories and history. Each one therefore holds precious moments within its woven threads.

***MATERIALS***

Silk sari ribbons, hand dyed lace and velvet ribbon, hand dyed silk dupion fabric, polyester lining, elastic, rhinestones, fresh water pearls, glass beads, rocaille beads, beads, lace, polyester ribbons and machine threads. Buckram and felt. Marabou feathers in various dyed colours.

***CARE OF YOUR HAT***

This is a silk fabric hat and should be kept dry. Excessive exposure to direct sunlight may damage the silk fibres over time. When not in use, it is best kept in its box unless you wish to use it as an ornamental piece.

All our products are ready to ship. As genuine craftswomen and artisans, all our items are lovingly handmade from start to finish, so no two hats will ever be exactly the same, ensuring you receive a unique piece of art! They are NOT covered cheap hat bases, but handmade using our own designed paper patterns, materials and techniques. Every hat pattern piece is cut out and put together by hand. All our hats have an open crown and fully lined irrelevant of size or shape.

***HOW TO WEAR YOUR HAT***

The smaller hats are held on the head by an elastic tape, which is worn around the back of the head to the nape of the neck and hidden beneath your hair (my preferred way). Also some have two hidden braid 'loops' to secure a head band (included one size) hair band and or a hat comb. Pins or grips (not included) are useful too. Hatinators are lightweight, easily positioned and secured at your most comfortable angle!

***SHIPPING***

All our products are shipped in protective packaging. Our hats are presented in a purpose made hat box (and then wrapped in protective wrapping).

All orders are processed and dispatched within 24 hours. Orders placed at the weekend will be dispatched on Monday.

Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. We are not responsible for delays due to customs. Please check if and how the new Brexit shipping changes may affect you.
